Roxanne Vertongen

Roxanne Vertongen from Meise, located in the green belt around Brussels, Belgium, is a Mathematics and Science student. What motivates Roxanne most in racing is the pure feeling of freedom on the bike and the shared fight with the team. The moments when she is barely hanging on but can still win a sprint are, for her, moments of pure goosebumps.

Her favorite race to ride is undoubtedly Gent Wevelgem. She looks up to two sportswomen: Marianne Vos for her incredible fighting spirit, and Demi Vollering, who inspires with her success both on and off the bike. Roxanne’s mental preparation involves Yoga for focus and the importance of being surrounded by the right people. She carries two necklaces and gold earrings as good luck charms; they provide her with peace of mind.

She finds NXTG Racing special because it focuses on the mental aspect, allowing her to grow as a rider and as a person under experienced guidance. Her motto, received as the best advice, is: “When the fun stops, stress starts.” Her ambition this season is to fully realize her potential, #unlockyourpotential, by building mental power and achieving versatile development.
